We welcome you to our site.

We are not a kennel or facility. We are in the country in Oregon. We live in a ranch home on an acre outside of Albany Oregon and the dogs love the country. There is definitely less barking and more playing than when we lived in town! They get to run loose in the 1/2 acre every day or so, and a dog park has nothing on the fun they have all together. Watch out mice, rats and snakes when we let the dogs out to hunt the barn and fence lines!
All our Cairn Terriers living here are our pets and live with us, and some sleep in our bedroom, some in their private crate beds. They get a raw, frozen chicken neck as a bedtime doggy snack that keeps their teeth in good condition.
Cairn Terriers are energetic, intelligent, quick to learn, and extremely sensitive to their people. That's why our dogs have done well as Therapy Dogs, and companions for all ages. Our goal is to produce a fantastic companion animal suitable for people looking for a big dog in a little package! That's a Cairn Terrier!
Norma Rice has been Marma's Cairn Terriers - since 1971. We bought a cute puppy who became an AKC Champion Male, Marma's Max (see page -"more tab" for Champion Dog photos). He lived a long 18 years and was so instilled in our hearts, that we have never wanted to have another breed of dogs.
Our standing joke about Cairn terriers is that they need to be drop-kicked off the back porch once a day! Not really drop-kicked, but can be played with roughly and they return that energy and unconditional love back to us
.

Our Champion Higgin's Checkov was still active when he passed at 12 years old in November, 2021! Our sturdy, smiley, pick-up riding dog had earned his AKC Championship in 2012 and still thought he was a lap dog! Go figure! He has his own Facebook Page, for he and his offspring. He was a fun dog and his puppies carry his calm personality, rowdy fun, and cheerful smile! His daughter, Marma's Cover My Dreams is currently one our best females a product of his frozen semen.

Our Champion Marma's King Arthur is one of our studs available in Albany. he earned his Championship against a field of outstanding Cairn Terriers in shows in Utah and Idaho. He lives with his co-owner Lorna Sebastian. He and his Mother, Dulci de Crema are good therapy for Lorna.

Our Champion Hawk Hollow Rusty Hinges is our main stud and he earned his Championship in May 2025.
HE LOVES to chase a toy or ball! Loves running in the field. He is first to greet visitors with kisses!

Our International Champion Marma's Tough Guy Da Bronx is a happy soul, a son of Champion Higgin's Checkov and Champion Happy Hills Freesia TDU CA. He is another of our available studs.

I am a member of Group 1V Terrier Club of Utah, and serve as fundraising chair with my friend, Marge Perez for the May and September shows.

I served on a committee that opened a public dog park in the City of Albany in June, 2014 in Timberlinn Park.

I am a member of the Group 4 Terrier Club of Salt Lake City and serve on the fundraising committee for our Spring and Fall Shows.

Thrilled with our girl! We adopted a Cairn terrier female pup from Marmas Cairn Terriers and received her in October. We called her Maggie, the same as her Mom. We love her so much, she is smart and pure joy for us. She loves the snow and just goes plowing through it.She was easy to housebreak and we have a Westie and they get along great and have a great time playing together. We had a Cairn before that passed way last June and we wanted one right away again. It is a great breed, small but not small in spirit. I highly recommend Marmas Cairns and recommend the Cairn breed.

Cricket lived to 14 years old and passed away in August 2016 - with being a Therapy Dog in my Adult Foster Care Home for 3 years, having several lovely litters of puppies, and being Granny dog to many generations of puppies in our household, she is missed!
